JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in the Uniformed Police Branch, Security Services, in the Office of the Chief Management Officer - Washington, DC.

SHIFT ASSIGNMENTS - New hires will initially be assigned to Shift 1 (7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.). Following the orientation period, new hires may be reassigned to other shifts.

This is an open continuous announcement which will establish an inventory of applicants interested in a career as a Police Officer with the U.S. Government Printing Office. The incumbent serves as a Police Officer on one of the three 8-hour shifts. Responsible for performing law enforcement, security, and anti-terrorism functions to include making arrests, conducting investigations, performing legal search and seizures, collecting and protecting evidence, preventing crime, protecting life, property and civil rights of GPO employees, and enforcing GPO rules and regulations. Verifies credentials to ensure only authorized personnel, vehicles, and equipment is permitted on Government Printing Office (GPO) property. Screens parcels, packages, containers, and equipment arriving and departing the facilities. Provides immediate response to incidents involving security breaches fire alarms, medical emergencies, and potential threats to GPO personnel and assets. Issues Visitor/Vendor Passes when necessary. Exercises authority to detain and arrest individuals for violations, misdemeanors, felonies, etc., based on probable cause.
