JOB SUMMARY:
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. The Office of General Counsel seeks an intern with a strong work ethic to assist in a variety of legal support services.

The Office of General Counsel seeks an intern with a strong work ethic to assist in a variety of legal support services. The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. Duties include drafting regulations, legislative research, verifying citations and statutory references in CBO draft reports against original sources such as legal text, reports, Federal Reporter system, CFR, etc., making sure that they are correct and in compliance with source material and conducting basic research assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Candidates should be working toward a juris doctorate degree. The ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and complete projects under tight deadlines is required. Candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills and learn to perform requested legal and factual research using both electronic (LEXIS/NEXIS) and manual library searches. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must. The position also requires a person who can work independently and as a part of a team. Training or experience in legislative affairs is desired, but not required


One advantage that CBO has over other federal agencies is that we are permitted to hire non-citizens who are permanent residents of the U.S.
