Step 2 - Review the Vacancy Announcement
Review the announcement thoroughly, including the Who May Apply, Qualifications, and Required Documents sections. These sections describe who is eligible to apply, what education and/or experience is required for the position, and which documents are needed for your application package.

Step 3 - Apply Online
Click the "Apply Online" link at the bottom of the page. Your resume must be submitted with your application. You will be redirected to the Secret Service's CareerConnector website to complete the application process.

Step 4 - Answer the Online Questions and Submit Your Online Application
If this is your first time on Secret Service's CareerConnector website, you will be prompted to register by answering questions related to your eligibility for Federal employment. The system will save these responses and include them with all future applications. You may update the responses to these questions at any time to reflect your most recent information. You will then be directed to the job-specific questions. Answer all questions honestly and thoroughly. Your responses must be substantiated by your online resume.

Step 5 - Supporting Documentation
To submit your required supporting documentation (see below), you may fax, upload documents from your computer, or download documents stored in USAJOBS. If faxing your supporting documentation, print the applicable cover sheet(s) in CareerConnector and follow the "Faxing Documentation" instructions. The fax number will be on the cover sheet.

If you are claiming 5-point veterans' preference, you must submit a copy of your Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty (DD-214 Member 4 Copy). If you are claiming 10-point veterans' preference, you must also include an application for 10-point veterans' preference (SF-15) and the required documentation listed on the back of the SF-15. A copy of the SF-15 may be found at http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/SF15.pdf. If you are currently "Active Duty", please submit a DD-214 for veterans preference OR a statement of service, if the DD-214 is not available. If you are a current or former Federal employee, you must submit a copy of your most recent SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action. NOTE: Current or former employees who have or had service in a Federal Law Enforcement position covered by law enforcement or firefighters retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement, must submit an SF-50 which reflects this.

If you have previously taken and passed the Police Officer Selection Test (POST), you must submit the official Notice of Results. The Notice of Results will be reviewed and a determination will be made regarding whether the test will be waived.

If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, you must submit proof that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
